|Directions to the Ride (not everyone will know how to get there)||
There should be plenty of street parking in the general vicinity of the ride's starting point, Philadelphia Brewing Company (2439 Amber Street, 19125) in Kensington. Please do not park in the lot opposite the PBC entrance. Be mindful that this is a residential neighborhood and we’re meeting early on a Saturday when many people will still be sleeping. All riders will need to check-in upon arrival. Please arrive early enough that you don’t hold up the start of the ride for others. The long ride departs promptly at 8:30AM, and the short ride leaves at 9:00AM. We advise you arrive 45 minutes prior to your departure time. Remember to wear a helmet. Bring a water bottle that you will be able to refill from our coolers throughout the day. We will also have FOOD MOXIE water bottles available for sale that morning (cash/check only). There will be plenty of fruit and other snacks (nuts, energy bars, pretzels, etc.) but you may want to pack something more substantial if you're concerned about running out of energy before we get to the pizza.
|Ride Description (terrain-hills, etc.,scenic points, stops)||
For the 12th year in a row, farms throughout Philadelphia are opening their gates for cyclists on Saturday, September 9th as they pedal through the city in celebration of urban agriculture as part of the Urban Farm Bike Ride (UFBR). Hosted by Weavers Way Co-op and presented by Lindy Communities, all funds raised through the UFBR go to support Food Moxie's farm and nutrition education programs! There are two routes riders can choose from — one clocks in at 23.7 miles and the other at 28.8 — and each winds through Philadelphia’s streets, stopping to explore urban agricultural sites and chat with some of the farmers who help maintain the city’s vibrant farm landscape. We begin and end at Philadelphia Brewing Company (PBC). We start the day off right with healthy trail mix and iced coffee supplied by Equal Exchange, and end it with a beer and pizza party, thanks to PBC and local pizza shops! Ticket includes tour, t-shirt, snacks/water along the route, and after party beer and pizza! Join us as we celebrate Philadelphia’s thriving farm ecosystem!
Tickets are $47 until 9/8 $50 day of the ride
